  • Question about the English Domestic Leagues

With these teams, how do the contracts work at the start of each season? I can't find anywhere that explains the youth, overseas and reserve contracts, etc.

    Many Thanks

Domestic - Players that are available to sign that have either been released by other counties or haven't had their contracts renewed.
Youth - Same as above just for young players, often find some good re-gens in here. Also investing more in the youth team will hopefully see better prospects come up into your squad.
Overseas - You're allowed one main overseas player, and up to 3 overseas players for T20 matches only.
Reserve overseas - An overseas player you can sign as backup if your main overseas player is unavailable.

At the moment, you can't have your main overseas and reserve overseas players from the same country (although I believe this is being reconsidered?) and you can't pay your reserve overseas player any more than your main one* - although this has the benefit of them not actually costing anything. So it's always worth taking on a reserve as they're essentially free - though of course you may never get to play them.

*Having said that, at game start Northants' reserve Jason Holder is on more than their main overseas player Temba Bavuma, so perhaps the developers aren't bound by the same rules we are...
