so.. all this frustration is genuine.. Amla is making your life hell. 3 centuries

atleast if corrected in next patch, he'll score them slowly!!!
LOL
I guess thats where it stems. Me thinking, how the hell is Amla scoring so rapidly, he shouldn't be!

I think 86 in ODI's is defensive (not very defensive) but in tests Amla's is 49.2..which these days, over a decent length career is definately VERY defensive (for a specialist batsman). It's actually LOWER than Boycotts' !!(Last 27 tests only - there are no run rate records for his first 81 matches) It is higher than Dravid's and Chanderpaul's (who have both been tagged "the rock" in the past) but Both Dravid and Chanderpaul have increased their run rate in recent years, in fact taken over the past 3 years both are a little higher than Amla's.

Which takes me to my main point.

Cricket Captain does not differentiate enough between the forms of cricket. Nor does it allow players to develop new skill, or entirely change skills. This happens an awful lot in real life. (Examples from those still playing.)

Flintoff. FM to MF to (now and then) F
Broad. N/A ( apparently leg spin though when pushed) to MF
Onions M to F (the fastest bowler at the last test in terms of mean ball speed and fastest delivery bowled 92.4MPH)
Anderson FM to MF. New deliveries (in swinger and leg cutter)
Cooke Very defensive (RR < 40) to Average RR >55

And players can play very differently in OD to FC cricket. RR's can vary wildly. Nice if these changes could be reflected in future versions.

Scritty
A players aggression differs in differing formats in the game.

• I'm probably being really, really dumb here, but does anyone else have a problem whereby Zaheer Khan is listed as an opening bat? He is batting at number 2 for India in the T20 world cup in my West Indies game.

Also, I'd like to point out that Sreesanth of India has no first name, you have him down as S. and Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, who, in his own words, don't exist

EDIT (On the Z.Khan front):- Just realised that the AI has picked him as a specialist opening bat. In 3 matches he has bowled 1 over which went for 13

• He was changed, somehow (oh the joys of patching!), to an opening batsman/batsman in one of the previous versions. He's fixed for 9.12.

• Oh yeah, just realised that... Knew I was being dumb

• "Other" Games

When you check the batting graph for batsmen's recent performers, they columns are colour coded to represent the format the runs were scored.

My question is, does 'Other' games mean 2nd XI matches, and if so, why are International players such as Ponting, Clarke, Watson, et al playing 2nd XI matches they day after and before International matches?

• "Other" can also include matches played against first class sides when on tour.

Haven't really looked at the international players to see if this is occuring.

But shouldnt we as the captain/coach be playing those FC games on tour?

• It's probably an error, as in the past version for example, when international players were playing on tours, they were still showing as playing FC and OD matches in the batting/bowling graphs.

Database error - Daan van Bunge (Netherlands) is not a wicketkeeper, he is an all-rounder.

Robert Woodman (Gloucestershire) should be an all-rounder

• Hi Nigel, i scoured through the pakistan database yet again (sad i know but hey its quite addictive lol) & there is still one major error in the database. Sohail Khan is still down as a batsmen when he should be an extremely promising fast bowler. In reality he is one of the best seamers on the pakistan domestic circuit who broke legendary pakistan bowler fazal mahmoods 1st class record of most wicket in a season. With the ball he averages 22 in 1st class, 24 in list A and 14 in domestic t20, impressive figures im sure you'd agree. Its the same situation as Asad ali who was also down as a batsmen but was changed into a bowler for the 9.12 patch after my recommendation. For your reference here is Sohail Khans profile:
Read about Sohail Khan cricket player from Pakistan profile, stats, rankings, records, videos, photos at ESPNcricinfo

* Wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed is also down as defensive. Although he loves to attack, on form no preference should be set.

Also did you get my personal message buddy?

• In the 81 Ashes, Peter Willey is in as an opening bat. Consulting my dad (lol) he feels he was more of a bowling all-rounder, I was also under the impression that he was a bowler.

(Currently 2 up in the series, 4 to go. Everyone bats really defensively (Boycott especially!) except Botham who scores at a SR of 100 even when on 2 bars.) Also, no team has scored over 300 in an innings, perhaps even 250, the simulation of pitches from the past is very good imo.

He was a bowler, really, presumably leading to the infamous "The batsman's Holding, the bowler's Willey" statement.

• That quote is pretty much where I got my idea that he was a bowler. Bowling average is good in FC, but in tests =/ By those stats, bowling all-rounder seems to fit the description.

• Yeah the Historical Scenarios are built really well. I went through all of them, and yes, scores were much lower, and the games were a lot closer.

Just on database errors, Paul Riefell is listed as a batsman. Pretty sure he was a bowler who could bat a little cum umpire, and a good one at that!
