I dont think it was simply a publicity stunt by Yorkshire- seems they really rate him. His batting at 11 as previously mentioned is probably due to his age and size etc- though Moxon pointed out his batting was what needed the most work if he is to make it as a FC cricketer. Would be good to see Alex Lees in the database too- 18 year old academy captain who just scored 204 for the seconds, Moin Ashraf (though i expect he's already down to be included) and others such as Gurman Randhawa

Ashraf and Randhawa are in, they are on (Junior) professional contracts after all. I only tend to add Academy players if they've either played a few games for the team/look like playing a lot, etc.

Lees played a game last year. Lees can be added, you seem to be turning over a leaf the last few seasons, good to see Yorkshire back on the rise.

Would you be allowed to include him anyway on account of Child Employment laws? Football Manager can't have players under than 16 in England due to various legal wrangles.

What age can you legally work in the UK?

Yeah Lees has played 2 first class games, is academy skipper and I'm led to believe has been to some England u19 training camp (not certain on that one though).. so he's obviously rated and maybe we could see big things from him.. would be good to see him in the database

Does that mean that players like Nicky Caunce and Jordan Clark will be in the Lancs squad this year? They are on scholarship contracts and Clark made his debut in the final CB40 game of last season with Caunce also in the squad. As for this season with Lancs' thread bear squad they are just a few injuries away from the side.

Also, with Bairstow with the Lions and Brophy injured I thought we might get to see Gibson in the Roses match today but they've brought Guy back after a 2 year absence. I assume Gibson is doing his exams though.

Yeah Gibson and another young keeper by the name Ed Wilson both have exams this week and also Gale felt that they don't quite have enough experience for a Roses game yet

Well, depends quite on what. Sports clubs can get licenses for anyone still at school (under 16), it is quite limited, modelling, advertising and various entertainment jobs also have allowances. It's not really an issue, especially as county cricket clubs have such a good record of helping youngsters through school and college, least not helping older players through university.

Chas - If you think they should be in the Lancs squad then we can do that. Having had a quick look at them, I wouldn't have included Caunce just by looking at what he's done and his 2nd XI form, but Clark looks like he's playing well in the seconds and I'm guessing he's 2nd keeper now Sutton has gone back to Derbyshire?

I think if Cross gets injured then Agathangelou might get the gloves but Clark is another option. They have both kept wicket for the 2nds in the past. Clark had a decent debut last year and has made some good scores in the 2nds this year.

I only really mention Caunce as he was in the squad for the last CB40 game (I think, for some reason the link on the website for that squad has been taken down) last year and was also given a scholarship contract.

Okay, I'll have both of them in then. Is Agathangelou a Kolpak?

Well I'm not sure, but I'd assume so. He played for the South Africa under-19s.

Wouldn't he be unable to qualify under the new rules?

I think he qualifies to play because he has a Cypriot passport.

Who knows, I don't think even the ECB knows what is happening with the rules on Kolpak. Riki Wessels found a loophole!

                            But yes, EU passport.

I actually read something a few days ago which said he was a qualified as a Kolpak player because of his Cypriot passport... now that just confused me as I thought you had to have played international cricket to qualify as a kolpak.

EDIT: And Clark played today... two sixes to help us to a tie on debut!

If he has a Cypriot passport it means he wouldn't need to qualify as a kolpak player. As a citizen of the EU he would be able to work anywhere in the EU without any restrictions, stemming from his nationality, placed on his ability to work. Kolpak players come from countries that have signed international agreements with the EU regarding free movement of workers and citizens, and depending on the individual agreements the EU member states may be able to impose more restrictions on those wishing to enter.
