  • South Africa under Alrounder80

I'm not too sure how long I'll carry this on but I have a bit of spare time this month so why not!

First up is a tour to the number 1 rated England for a 3 test match series followed by 5 one dayers and 3 T20s.

The squad for South Africa is as follows:

Vilas and de Kock will be vying for the number 1 keeper spot after Boucher's tragic retirement.

    England's 12 man squad:

Andrew Strauss is out for 2 weeks with a back injury so Alex Hales is in.

That's exactly what I did but the result is a link to imageshack rather than a screenshot straight onto the post.

First up is the tour match against Kent.

              South Africa XI:
              G.Smith
              A.Petersen
              H.Amla
              J.Kallis
              A.De Villiers
              J.Rudolph
              D.Vilas
              V.Philander
              M.Morkel
              D.Steyn
              I.Tahir
              Kent XI
              R.Key
              D.Bell-Drummond
              D.Rowntree
              M.Powell
              A.Blake
              B.Harmison
              S.Billings
              A.Mahmood
              M.Coles
              M.Davies
              C.Shreck

I was content with the batting performance. Amla and Smith both played positive cricket which payed off. However, the bowling was very worrying. My only spinner, Imran Tahir got smashed for 104 of his 23 overs with just one wicket as well as Steyn who went at almost 5 an over of his 17. After Kent's batting performance there was only a day left so I decided to give our batsmen another full days batting.
How will we fare against England who are known to have one of the best top orders around?

The much anticipated 1st test match has finally arrived!

I went with the same South African team that went up against Kent

                England XI:
                A.Cook
                A.Hales
                K.Pieterson
                I.Bell
                J.Trott
                M.Prior
                R.Bopara
                S.Broad
                C.Tremlett
                J.Anderson
                S.Finn
Surprisingly, Graeme Swann wasn't picked, possible reason could have been due to the very overcast conditions.

All in all, this was an outstanding performance by the South Africans.
Peterson and Smith started of well with a 120 partnership. Peterson was then caught hooking to fine leg for a well played 47. There was slight scare when Amla trapped by Broad for a duck but the Smith, Kallis and de Villier's experience really shone through. Morne Morkel helped de Villier's reach his century and proceeded to score a rapid 70 of 94!
A combination of excellent line and length bowling and poor batting lead to both innings ending around the 250 mark. Pieterson threatened in both innings to score big but gave it away. Tahir acclimatised to the cool English weather and showed his talents with tight and economical spells. Morne Morkel was handed the man of the match after taking a five-for in the second innings giving South Africa a marvelous win. England may want to bring in the Kent top order into the side after this batting performance!

Thanks! Have a feeling that the rest of the matches won't be as easy as this one knowing England's strength..

I've found England to be the toughest opponent so far.

If we're talking real-life then it will be 2-0 to England I reckon. As for this topic, good first win.
